What About Me
Following the lyrics...Pete (played by Stivi Paskoski) is the "little boy". Pete's life is sad & he's a thug. How else could his life have gone really? It was out of necessity more then by choice. He needed to do what he had to do to survive. There really is no more tragic character on television then Pete. Michael (Jason Isaacs) is his only friend. I do believe Michael loves Pete like a brother but he takes Pete for granted, manipulates him, bullies him, takes what he can get from him and doesn't give him much in return. Actually, the only thing Michael has given Pete is a push off the sobriety wagon! Meanwhile, Eileen (Annabeth Gish) is the "pretty girl". Hers is a sad life as well, though in a different way then Pete's. She was probably nurtured as a child but she sure isn't now. Tommy takes more then he gives (as evidenced by the kitchen sex scene in one of the episodes! LOL) and like Pete, she's taken for granted. The "little people" mentioned in the lyrics are represented by characters who I thought were good examples of those who are one or more of the following: overlooked, disrespected, taken for granted, neglected, looked down upon or who perhaps had childhoods similar to Pete's and they never really got a fair chance in life to be good people. Enjoy! This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
