An AU Dirt video meaning I made it up and it does not follow the storyline in the series. My story: Lucy is in love with Holt but wants to keep their relationship hidden because he's a celebrity and she's a just a lowly reporter - a regular girl. She feels that since he's a celebrity he needs to keep up appearances and make sure he's seen dating beautiful starlets. Lucy doesn't want to hold him back from his stardom so she tells him to get a different girlfriend.
Lucy's work as a reporter often brings her to the same parties/events that Holt attends. Eventually Holt does get a major celebrity girlfriend and he and Lucy try to be 'only friends' but they can't stop seeing or thinking of each other so they sneak around. Lucy thinks Holt's girlfriend suspects and Holt tells her if she thought something was going on she'd say something to him.
Lucy & Holt's lies become a game with the prize being love. The lyrics could be taken as Lucy's POV, but really they are also from Holt's. He loves Lucy and is not the one who wants to keep the relationship a secret, he never has wanted that, it was Lucy who insisted on it. Holt doesn't want to pretend to love his celeb girlfriend, he only wants to be with Lucy and the sneaking & hiding are taking their toll on him. What will he finally do about it? Watch & see.
