This video is very different then my usual style. I'd even go as far as to say that someone who knows my work and saw this video without my sig on it - probably wouldn't guess it was mine. It's intense and dark, full of quick cuts and filters and effects - all those things which normally I don't go real heavy on. But it was right for this video. I intentionally only followed the heavy beats for part of the song, I alternate betweeen following them and not following them. I wanted the video to have a bit of a disjointed or unbalanced feel because it helped create the atmosphere imho.

True Blood and it's characters were, I felt, the perfect cast for this video. It's somewhat coming from vampire Godric's POV. Early in the video he kills, but it's to save human Sookie from being raped by a human attacker. As the video goes along he tries to figure out why everyone can't just get along as I go about showing different acts of meaness and hatred - how people hurt each other. I wanted to paint a picture of how it's not just the humans against the vampires, but it's also the humans against the humans. I incorporated the evil maenad Maryann, who eventually had a major role in turning all the humans against each other. In the end, the True Blood world loses the evil creature, but it also loses the good vampire Godric who, despite pleading from his grief-stricken "child" not to do it, just wants it to end by meeting the sun. I suppse in a way, it's his way of making amends for all the past evils he's responsible for.
