OK this is just part of something. Not sure how much farther I need to go. Or if I can fit it in another chapter at some point. Can I really have this as a flashback scene since it's Cho's flashback right now and with it being so, Cho wouldn't know how Dem thought or what he was feeling so the parts I typed in blue - wouldn't be able to be part of this scene, but I think they are important and really need to be seen.
Also, I still need to consider using Mark/Dem's 'disagreement to get Jane deeper 'in' with Dem.
Cho & Dem’s First Kiss – Flashback
Cho watched as Demetri argued with his partner. Whatever the issue was, Demetri was really mad over it. Each man looked ready to lunge at the other. He saw Demetri gesturing wildly as he argued, saw his hand run over his face several times. Dem’s partner had turned his back and was staring out the window. Demetri had turned away as well and was pacing like a caged animal. Finally the two men turned to face each other again. Demetri stepped closer to Mark, he picked up a file and was waving it. Mark shook his head as if to say “no”.
Cho saw their supervisor Stan, walk in the room and both men turned their attention to him. He saw Mark and Demetri argue some more, the boss breaking in and addressing each separately letting them speak their mind to him. When they were done, Stan spoke. Cho knew the result was in Mark’s favor when he saw Mark give a slight smile and Demetri look down to the ground, putting a hand to his chin. The boss turned and left the room. Cho saw Mark say something to Dem then follow Stan out. When the door closed Demetri took the file he held in his hand and threw it down hard onto the table before storming out.
Seeing Dem throw the file down took Cho back in time. He had been in his bedroom with Demetri, he had a history quiz coming up and Dem was trying to get him to take it seriously. But Cho was not in the mood for school, he never was. Every time Dem would ask him a question, Cho would purposely give him the most ridiculous answer he could think of. Cho smiled at the memory of how a few times he’d actually been clever enough to make Demetri stop acting like a hard ass teacher and crack a grin. Demetri had finally gotten frustrated and……Cho let himself slip into the memory.
+++++ flashback +++++
Irritated, Demetri had slammed down his book down, then stood up so fast that his foot got caught in the frayed edge of the rug, and he lost his balance.
Cho tried to catch him, and would have been successful had he not tripped over his own feet. He went right down with him, landing sprawled right on top of Demetri. He began apologizing but then, couldn’t help himself and began laughing, when he saw the look on Dem’s face, a mixture of embarrassment and surprise. Cho tried to stop laughing as he asked if Dem was ok.
“Kim, I’m fine,” he said straight faced but then he also couldn’t help himself and began to laugh.
Kim loved to hear Demetri laugh. He stayed right where he was and stared at the older boy, totally captivated by his smiling face and the sound of the laughter.
“Get off me,” Dem said. “Let me get up.”
Maybe it was because Demetri was so beautiful when he smiled and laughed, maybe it was because he did it all the time in his dreams and thought that this was dream, maybe he was experiencing temporary insanity - not even Cho knew why he chose to NOT get off of Demetri, but to lean his head down and kiss him instead.
Demetri’s eyes widened in shock and his body turned rigid. Cho pulled away within seconds when it sunk in that Dem was not kissing back. He cursed himself inwardly. He’d never come up with any words to make this better. He had just ruined everything. Dammit!
But then Demetri’s hands went up around Cho’s neck, twining into his hair, and before Cho had time to realize that Dem wasn’t going to strangle him, he pulled his face back down and began kissing him. Cho kissed back, the gentle pressing of their lips soon changed to tongues searching for entrance and then soft moans of pleasure as the boys tasted each other for the first time.
Demetri tried to will himself to stop. To pull away and tell Cho that this was wrong and it couldn’t happen again. But he could tell Cho was new, suspected that this might even be the boys first real kiss. How could he push him away? Doing that would shatter Kim’s confidence for years. That’s the excuse Dem tried to sell to himself for letting this happen, but, if he was being honest with himself, he’d admit that he wanted this, had wanted this for a long time. That he thought about Kim at times he knew he shouldn’t. That he saw him in his dreams at night, saw them together in his dreams at night. But he couldn’t face that truth yet so he told himself this is the first and last time this would happen. He’d keep his hands to himself, this was just a kiss – nothing more. Still, a part of him knew he was lying. He ignored that part and continued the kiss, closing his eyes and exploring every area of Cho’s perfect mouth. He’d never felt such a rush of emotion from kissing anyone else and he was overwhelmed with powerful feelings that he’d rather not analyze. He simply let himself fall into the incredible abyss.
Kim felt like he was floating on air. He’d never kissed anyone before, well, aside from his Mother and obviously that was not the same thing. He hoped he was doing it right. It felt right, in fact, it felt like he and Dem were made to kiss each other like this. Kim let his tongue follow Demetri’s, then let it slide into Dem’s mouth and savored the warmth, the taste. He closed his eyes and let himself get lost in the feeling. He wrapped his arms around Dem and clung to him, felt Dem hesitate but finally embrace him back. They held each other tight while continuing to kiss.
It was like a dam had broken between them and they were flooded with the feelings that both of them had felt for so long but neither had dared to admit to. They kissed feverishly, touched frantically for almost a full half hour, till they heard Kim’s Mom come home.
Every day, and every night after that first kiss, Cho told Demetri, without words, that he was the center of his universe. And Demetri heard him, but he kept his sentiments to himself, fearing that they would shatter him if he confessed them. He knew he loved this boy, there was absolutely no doubt, but everyone he had ever loved seemed to leave him in one way or another, and he knew he couldn’t bear it if Kimball Cho left him.
