This video was made for a Daughtry Challenge over at An Eternal Dream Awards. I took the lyrics and put a different spin on them.

After he angers a serial killer on national television, Patrick Jane's wife and daughter are brutally murdered and left for Jane to find when he gets home. Since then Patrick Jane has lived to hunt down and kill Red John but RJ is always a step ahead.

Here's my interpretation: the "this love" that the lyrics speak of is, of course, Jane's love for his murdered wife and child. "this love is killing me" - it's killing him because he is so focused on avenging their deaths that he's not really living anymore himself. His obsession to catch their killer has led Jane into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Red John, a game that Patrick keeps losing and Jane's not used to losing.

The lyric "I'll try to get it right this time around" is meant as him beating himself up a bit. Every time he loses (is outsmarted by RJ) he tells himself and his wife & daughter that he'll do better - that he'll outsmart Red John this time around (RJ keeps coming and taunting Jane). Of course the CBI team is very involved in this and finally in a very bold move, Red John attacks right within the CBI offices killing two of the agents working with Patrick on this case and leaving them for the rest of the team to find. When one more agent is missing RJ cruelly leaves Jane clues which lead him to find that agent also killed. In the end..."It's not over"....

This is meant to be an extremely angsty and powerful vid and I hope I successfully pulled that off.
